This blog is the digital home of some of the learning that Mr. Chidiac's students engage in. It is a place for them to showcase their learning via Podcasts and VLOGs. Jump in and put yourself in our shoes as we grow and learn throughout the school year!
The grade 4/5 students have been working with Ms. Butson's grade 7 class to collaborate and create a statue/monument for Canada's 150th Birthday. Aside from bringing the two groups together to participate in designing 3D printed monuments/statues, they are working on their spatial reasoning using Tinkercad to design their creations. It is also great to see the grade 7's being natural leaders as they work with the grade 4's and watching the grade 4's lead with respect to the 3D technology that they have been using this school year. Here is some audio of their thinking so far.
Today the grade 5 students visited Parliament Hill in Ottawa. They have been learning about Government and Citizenship. Listen to hear what they had to say about their time in the House of Commons, Library of Parliament, and the Prime Minister's Office.
Students share their thinking about a spatial reasoning activity that was done independently. They had a graphic organizer and a pencil to complete the task.
We have started integrating virtual reality into our Social Studies learning. The students are learning about early civilizations and using the mobile devices and VR viewers to go on virtual field trips to places that are connected to their learning. Here is some audio about it:
The Grade 4 students are creating digital museums about ancient civilizations. One of the components of their project is to create and print a 3D artifact that is connected to their learning. Listen in to one of our students talk about what she is creating.
